For a century, we've supported students, enhanced faculty resources, and aided research. In 2025, we celebrate the Smathers Library centennial at the University of Florida. Annual Michael Gannon Lecture

April 5, 2025, 4-5:30pm EDT, Smathers Library Room 100

Guest Speaker: Professor George Aaron Broadwell. “Reading Florida’s First Native Authors: Towards an Understanding of Timucua Literature”. This talk introduces the public to some of the most interesting passages of Timucua literature and discusses the techniques that his team has used to read and interpret Timucua texts.

We are the Girls of Old Florida

Even before the University of Florida’s (UF) founding in 1905, the women in UF’s community were and continue to be resilient advocates for and agents of transformation. This exhibit honors these women students who carved their own path at UF as their voices shifted from the margins to the center of campus life. Curated by Dalia Bronisas Dooley and Sarah Coates.
